The Egyptians and the gifts of the Nile - exhibition
Mostra Egizia 11
Mostra Egizia 2
The fascinating finds will be accompanied by a strong and engaging narrative speech, so as to fully understand the fundamental elements of Egyptian culture. An educational project that intends to tell the history of Ancient Egypt, society, religion, art, the relationship with the afterlife, the life of the Pharaohs and much more, offering visitors an examination of the fundamental elements that characterized the long history of Egyptian civilization through the exhibition of small but significant works of art.
The visit will offer various insights into the arts of ancient Egypt, from architecture, sculpture to painting, as well as minor arts such as coroplastics, cabinet making, jewelery and materiality. The historical period goes from the Predynastic Era (3600-3200 BC) to the Greco-Roman Era (330 BC-642 AD), told by a selection of finds from the Egyptian Museum of Turin.
The art of ancient Egypt is known to us only from direct archaeological experience, which is why the true protagonists of the itinerary are the finds, material evidence of concepts, ideas and techniques. The history of Egyptian art does not show proper names, the sovereigns assume responsibility as inspirers of the figurative taste of the era of which they are eponymous. However, some historical and social events have led individual personalities to stand out, while archaeological research has allowed the reconstruction of the professional lives of individual artisans. Furthermore, some of these are inextricably linked to finds that have now become iconic. Each of the numerous finds will be accompanied by texts that aim to contextualize them, describe them and delve deeper into one or more focuses.

With the support of the Sicily Region, the Federico II Foundation and a large network of important private partners, this exhibition "The Egyptians and the gifts of the Nile" was born, promoted by the Municipality of Ragusa, produced by Arthemisia in collaboration with the Egyptian Museum of Turin and curated by Paolo Marini. In the coming weeks it will be presented in detail to the media and the city.
