The tour offers the opportunity to gain a glimpse of life in Ragusa, in the delicate years around 1860. The guided tour focuses on three private sites, close to each other: the Circolo di Conversazione, the Palazzo Arezzo of Trifiletti and the Cinabro carters' shop.
The Conversation Club, which for a long time remained inaccessible except to its members, tells of a special dimension of the aristocracy of the 19th century. The rich rooms of the Conversation Club reveal the secrets and anecdotes that lie behind this site, in an atmosphere that recalls closely the world described by Tomasi di Lampedusa in his masterpiece The Leopard, in search of the spirit of a Sicily perhaps not yet completely lost.
Palazzo Arezzo di Trifiletti tells of the daily life of one of the most influential aristocratic families in the Ragusa area. Led by Domenico Arezzo di Trifiletti, the last descendant of the family and master of the house, you will discover the view over Piazza Duomo which undoubtedly makes this building one of the most fascinating in the city.
Finally, the Cinabro workshop allows you to get to know in depth the symbol par excellence of Sicilian art: the cart. The visit is led by Damiano Rotella, Biagio Castilletti and Raffele Santaera, artisans of painting and restoration of carts, a category in extinction. Between colours, brushes and symbols of traditional Sicily, we will discover how much the cart represented in the life of a Sicilian man who invested all his sacrifices in it.
