Opened at the end of 2020, the Museum of Costume at Donnafugata transports visitors into the wonderful world of period clothing and accessories, offering an exclusive look at three histories of fashion, from the 1700s to the mid-1900s.

The superb setting for this project is arranged into a series of “cages” which emphasise the walls and vaulted ceiling, which is covered with colourful fabric in order to resolve the issue of blocking out the natural light without affecting the building’s structure. This splendid venue is ideal for exhibiting the Gabriele Arezzo di Trifiletti collection, acquired by the city in 2014.

The collection includes 460 gowns, 695 individual garments, 1,555 fashion accessories (including shoes and hats), 72 decorative objects including cosmetic products, embroidery, an unusual birthing chair and a curious travel basin.

After many of the most fragile items were carefully restored, an exhibition has been curated to show off every garment in the collection, which has been further enhanced with donations.

Visitors are offered a journey through time, beginning in Italy in the 1700s, and ending in the 20th century in the roaring twenties! This is not just an important historic collection, it is a treasure chest that you have to come and see for yourself!

Every day, except Mondays, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm.
Entrance ticket, independent visit with support of panels.
Possibility of a cumulative ticket with Donnafugata Castle and Park.
