The Church of the Santissima Annunziata
The Church of the Santissima Annunziata
This church stands in a part of the city which was traditionally home to the city’s Jewish population and is near to the site of Ragusa’s old synagogue.
Today it is the home of the Museum of the Confraternity but the church used to have close links with the Battaglia family, whose family residence was next-door.
Worthy of note inside is the unusual depiction of Madonna depicted on the vaults of the sacristy, dressed as a shepherdess protecting her lambs from a wolf.
