Built in the new city of Ragusa Superiore in the aftermath of the 1693 earthquake which devastated Ragusa Ibla, this cathedral is a wonderful example of the late-baroque style which is typical of the time of the city's reconstruction.
Inside it features golden capitals, Corinthian columns, a cupola and a wide nave, creating a unique interior.
Either side of the cathedral are gardens with pomegranate, olive, palm, pine, and laurel trees, providing a cool, shady place to relax for a few moments on the elegant stone seats between the pools with water jets.
