The section on prehistory includes neolithic and late-bronze-age ceramics, whilst the section on indigenous sites, located inland at Kamarina, includes the valuable limestone slab with the “warrior of Castiglione”. The museum is also well known for its recreations including the two necropoli in Kamarina, the 4th century kiln in Scornavacche and a stratigraphy of the city of Kamarina, while the mosaic floors of an early-Christian 6th century church, la Pirrera, located in nearby Santa Croce Camerina, are also very striking.
The museum is arranged into six sections - prehistory, the Greeks and Kamarina, indigenous people, Magna Graecia, the late-Roman and Byzantine towns, collections and acquisitions - which tell the story, in chronological order, of the different phases of Ragusa's documented history.
