Lake Santa Rosalia

Lake Santa Rosalia is in the heart of the plateau above Ragusa, a man-made lack formed by a dam that collects water for irrigating the lands of the plains below.
This landscape has been transformed by the creation of the lake, which is surrounded by hills and forest that are home to a number of different species of birds and plants.

The ins and outs of the lake’s shoreline make it the perfect place for spinning fishing.
Near the lake is Cava Gria, a broad valley reached via a circular walk that is suitable for everyone.

Also nearby is San Filippo Castle, a 19th century private residence in the Gothic Revival style that, together with the shimmering waters of Lake Santa Rosalia, adds much to this remote landscape.

VISITING LAKE SANTA ROSALIA: Follow the SS194 road towards Giarratana until you reach Google Maps 1. Continue for a further 60 metres to the car park, Google Maps 2.
